<image:caption>Our Approach We believe that the problems that are affecting the U.S. healthcare system cannot be solved with simple solutions or by individuals working in silos. Years working in the leading U.S. healthcare institutions have led us to develop a groundbreaking, data-driven, comprehensive approach designed to radically improve the healthcare system.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The United States spends 4.1 trillion dollars in healthcare a year, which accounts for 19.7% of its GDP (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 2021). Ninety percent of those expenses are for individuals with mental health and chronic health conditions, which are largely preventable (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021). Despite spending more in healthcare than any other high-income country, the United States ranks last in equity, access to health care, and outcomes among 11 comparable, high-income countries (Commonwealth Fund, 2021).</image:caption>

<image:caption>Prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). ACES include childhood emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and living with a family member who has been incarcerated or is mentally ill. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2019) reported that ACES have a graded dose-response with over 40+ outcomes, including mental illness, suicide attempts, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, cancer, heart disease, stroke, broken bones, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pregnancy outcomes. Furthermore, ACES are known to increase health risk behaviors (alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and smoking), reduce academic achievement and graduation rates, and increase time lost from work (CDC, 2019; Kalmakis & Chandler, 2014). We are currently involved in promoting a strategic approach to prevent ACES in Ohio. We have been working closely with legislators to promote the elimination of the statute of limitations for sexual crimes and the marital rape exemptions, which still exists in twelve states, including Ohio.
